    It's a Heat Wave!

4_6day[1] From KOMO TV's web page: "Never in the history of KOMO News have we ever predicted a high of 100 in Seattle. That ends today with our inaugural triple digit forecast for the Emerald City. It would tie the all-time record high in the city, but believe it or not -- some forecast models think 100 is too conservative."

Who says it doesn't get hot in Seattle. OK, it's not like Arizona or some place that normally has very hot weather, but for around here, these are pretty high temperatures. Definitely the hottest weather I have seen since I have been working on the flight line. I will have to try to remember this week next winter, when I'm walking around outside complaining about the cold.

    Birthday and Baseball

July 2009 004 Although my 52nd Birthday was actually today, we celebrated it Friday at Red Robin with just my family, and again yesterday at my mom's house with her and my two sisters. My brother was unable to make it but he sent me a huge card that plays music. I also received a couple of shirts and some money. It was a very nice Birthday! PartyBirthday cakeGift with a bow

A few days ago we found out that our son Aaron had won a drawing held at his orthodontist's office for 4 tickets to a Seattle Mariner's Baseball game for today. They turned out to be great seats just 14 rows up from 3rd base. Aside from the fact that the Cleveland Indians beat us 12 to 3, it was a great July 2009 009time except for the heat. We sat in the 90 degree sun all afternoon and survived by spraying ourselves with a water misting bottle and taking a couple of trips up to the refreshment areas. Who say's it doesn't get hot in Seattle. It is supposed to be even hotter for the next few days going as high as about 98 degrees (Fahrenheit) on Wednesday. I like nice weather much better than cold, especially since I work outside on the flight line for a living, but this much heat is a little too much for me. Luckily, I am also working inside our office area part of the time lately since I have been filling in as a team leader for the past few months, and I bought a nice fan that I can use at my desk to help me stay cool.

I hope you all have a nice week!

    Daily Bible Verse

n9490360529_2731328_1388282 Hi everyone! I must admit that lately I have been so busy working and doing other things that I haven't been spending as much time reading the Bible as I should. But one thing I look forward too everyday as check my email is reading the Daily Bible Verse, and the commentary that comes with it. I have been receiving it for a few months now, and it really is a good reminder of what I need to keep my mind on and how I should be living my life. they also have a Facebook page for anyone who's interested and you can put their Daily Bible Verse gadget on your Facebook page and other sites too. If you are interested in learning more about the Daily Bible Verse of signing up for their daily email service, just click here. I have copied today's verse below, but if you want to see what it looks like on email, just click here.

Psalm 118:24 - This is the day the LORD has made

    Posted: 17 Jul 2009 10:10 PM PDT

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (NIV)

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (KJV)

How did you start your day this morning? Did you awaken with joy? Are you refreshed knowing that today is a gift from the Lord?
Or are you dragging? Just barely making it with complaint after complaint? The weather... the kids... the.. job.... so many burdens to bear.
There are many things that HE prepared in advance for you to do. Be glad of the gift and serve Him today with joy.

    WEBELOS Camp Out

July 4 2009A 006 Hi everyone! Well, Friday night I slept in a tent for the first time in around 40 years. I really didn't get much sleep as the ground was hard and there was a lot of noise from the nearby road, but it was my son Aaron's first WEBELOS overnight camp out so it was pretty neat anyway. We used my wife's tent, which I had never seen put up since we were married over 11 years ago, but it fit us two just perfect and is in pretty good shape for it's age. The camp was at a Lions Club park about 25 minutes from our house so it was just a short drive. I was never in the Scouts myself so it was a good lesson in how they do everything according to their schedule so you have to keep up with it. The whole event was run by kids a little bit older than Aaron who are Boy Scouts. They did a great job and I really learned to appreciate the self discipline that these kids have learned by scouting, and the leadership abilities that they have acquired. I watched as the WEBELOS learned lessons in fire building, compass reading, rope tying, and more. There was even a lesson in how to protect your food from bears. Over all it was a pretty good time. It was good to see kids who are on a better path than so many of those that  you see today. I expect that Aaron will probably continue on in scouting as he really liked this camp out experience.

    Live Spaces Vision

Spaces Vision I was looking through the web the other day for any news I could find about "Live Spaces" as I am curious to know what plans if any that MS has to change it again or eliminate it all together as I am still a little leery about coming back here again after some of the things that happened to my site during last December's changes. The elimination of MSN Groups also adds a little to my paranoia. While I was searching, I happened to come across a cool page from MSN UK that reminds of the ability that we used to have here to look at new and updated Spaces. It is called "Live Spaces Vision" and it shows recently updated Spaces from around the world in front of a map which moves to show you where they came from. Here is an official blurb that describes this service:

Live Spaces Vision is a stream of global updates to the Windows Live Space network of local market sites in near real-time. Live Spaces Vision joins FlickrVision, TwitterVision, and WikipediaVision in the vision map genre. This was achieved by using the publicly available Changes Feed and Virtual Earth SDK.Evangelised by Rick Stock and Jason Christie in London, UK. Developed by Cyokin Zhang and Jamie He in Shanghai, CN.

    My Testimony

stackobibles Here's a little bit about me,
I became a Christian in 1989 after reading the Gideon's Bible in hotel rooms during times I had been on vacation. The help section in the front of their Bibles is what helped me to relate to what it said, and to know that it could really apply to my life. You can read these helps on their web site which is at
http://www.gideons.org/. Before that time, I spent a lot of time going to bars and living the kind of life that goes along with that. Now I had no use for that kind of life, and in 1998 I met my wife in the same church that we still go to today, and at which I have been running the bookstore for the last 11 years. We have been blessed with 2 wonderful children, and I am now a 51 year old dad with 2 kids under 10 years old!

    What I Believe

The BeginningI believe the sixty-six books of the Bible to be the inspired, inerant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, and are the infallible rule of faith and practice.

I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.

I believe that the lost and sinful man must be saved, and that man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

I believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.

I believe in the resurrection of both the saved and unsaved; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation.

I believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
